President urges masses to realize environmental degradation threats  

     
KARACHI, July 30 (APP):  President Asif Ali Zardari has urged the masses to realize that environmental degradation is a global issue, threatening every life on earth.“It is, therefore, all the more necessary to save our environment from further pollution to save the habitat,” he said  in his message to the National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH), organizers of the 7th Annual Environment Excellence Award Ceremony.The federal government as well as provincial governments are fully cognizant and have taken several steps to check pollution and encourage environment- friendly activities in the country, said the President.
He also congratulated the organizers for holding, alongwith the award ceremony, a dialogue of stakeholders to recognize the efforts of companies towards environment friendly activities.
“I am sure that the participants of the dialogue will come up with appropriate recommendations for the policy makers and to guide all those who want to follow the environment- friendly path,” he said.
The President said the government will fully support all efforts to preserve the shared environment.
“I also commend organizations like NFEH in their efforts to make people aware of the need to be environment- friendly,” he said.
